Young Person's Service

Not everyone at Aranui is elderly. The home has a vibrant young person's service catering for people under 65 who need residential or hospital-level care as the result of a stroke, brain injury, cancer, accident or other medical problem. It is also suitable for those who are terminally ill.

New arrivals are carefully assessed to determine whether they are most suited to the rest home or the hospital. They are encouraged to take part in the home's activity programmes in order to retain their intellectual and physical abilities.

Programmes for the under-65s are individually tailored so that they are able to mix with their own age group while their religious and cultural wishes are taken into account.

The young person's service is not suitable for those whose medical or psychological condition is not stable.
